Culinary Cook Off 2018 – 6 fabulous chefs

Award winning Chef Lindsay Porter is returning to compete in the Culinary Cook-Off!  She’s not new to our competition, having competed in our Cook Off in previous years and each time she brings her unique culinary style to the table. We’re very excited to welcome her back for the 2018 competition and can’t wait to see what she cooks up this year! Check out her new English inspired eatery London Local.

The Culinary Cook-Off extends a big welcome-back to two fabulous chefs, Chef Andrew Cowan and Chef Matt Phillips. In 2016, after years of refining their talents in some of Edmonton’s most notable culinary venues, these two dynamic self-taught chefs have combined their unique talents to open the “Feel Good Food” restaurant Northern Chicken, located at 10704 – 124 St. Pop in and enjoy some southern charm with a bit of northern hospitality!

The 2018 Mount Royal Culinary Cook Off welcomes returning competitor chef Levi Biddlecome. Chef Levi currently graces the kitchen of Why Not Cafe & Bar and is also the co-ower of the south side establishment.  Chef Levi is the former owner of the well-known Edmonton food truck Attila the HUNgry. He also appeared in the 2016 Keep On Truckin season finale of Chopped Canada. We feel fortunate to have another extremely talented chef join our competition and can’t wait to taste Chef Levi’s noodle creation.

We are very pleased to welcome back Chef Shane Chartrand from Sage Restaurant, located in the River Cree Casino & Resort. Sage Restaurant brings fine dining to life in a sophisticated, adults-only, environment. Their menu features indigenous culinary traditions and inspired grill & seafood creations all paired with an exclusive world-class wine list. This winning combination opens the door to one of Edmonton’s finest culinary experience.

Chef Chartrand isn’t new to competition. In addition to competing in our 2012-2017 Culinary Cook-Offs, in 2015 he also competed on the TV show Chopped Canada.

We can’t wait to experience another Chef Shane Chartrand masterpiece. What could he possibly do to top last year’s amazing creation?

We are thrilled to announce that Prairie Noodle Shop, winner of the 2016 “Kids Choice” award will be returning for the 2018 Culinary Cook Off! We thank chef Eric Hanson for his commitment to supporting students and Arts Core programming at Mount Royal School.

Prairie Noodle Shop is located along Edmonton’s vibrant 124th Street; the trendy location paired with the delectable prairie inspired ramen has brought them much success! Make sure to try their noodle creation at the Culinary Cook Off. Even better, stop into the restaurant and enjoy a bowl of ramen next time your craving locally sourced goodness.

A big welcome goes out to our newest competitor chef Executive Chef Vikram Redgaonkar from Highlands Golf Club. Vikram’s cooking philosophy is to keep things simple and to use local ingredients. Working with many local farmers and suppliers, he sources local produce and meat while utilizing a farm to table approach.

The atmosphere at the Highlands clubhouse is genuine, welcoming and open to both members and non-members. They will  find just about any excuse to throw a party and have a good time. It is the perfect scenic backdrop for any special event and an idyllic setting to enjoy frosty post-round pints, no matter the occasion, the clubhouse is the best place to meet old friends and make new ones.
